Gingerbread Molasses Cookies

Anyone else love a Christmas cookie and coffee while sitting near the Christmas tree?

If you didn't know I actually grew up overseas (Bolivia, South America) for much of my childhood. While living there we had to keep our cookies in the freezer to keep them fresher and bug free. At Christmas we always had molasses bars in the freezer and they are my favorite Christmas cookie for sure. I want to share the recipe with you!

Gingerbread Molasses Bars

Ingredients:

¾ cup butter

2 cups flour

1 cup sugar

2 tsp baking soda

1 tsp cinnamon

½ tsp cloves

½ tsp ginger

½ tsp salt

¼ cup molasses

1 egg

2 tbsp sugar (for top)

Instructions:

Melt butter and then cool for 5 minutes. Add remaining ingredients except 2 tbsp sugar for on top. Spread in a greased cookie sheet (will be thin). Sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 350 for 10 minutes (no longer). ENJOY! Cut and freeze if desired.

Let me know your favorite Christmas cookie!
